Emerging technologies are a part of our everyday lives and change the way in which we access, create and communicate information. These technologies provide educational benefits and have the potential to positively impact teaching and learning. To support this potential, AISA has transitioned to a blended learning, technology- infused environment where Secondary students, grade 6-12, bring their own device to school each day and Elementary students have access to laptop carts and other technology resources.
To meet our technology goals, AISA uses the ISTE National Educational Technology Standards as a framework for effectively integrating technology into the curriculum. Our technology integration specialist, in collaboration with K-12 technology committee, works closely with teachers to support them in applying these standards and integrating technology into their instruction.
- Wireless network that extends throughout the school allowing students and teachers anytime anywhere access.
- One computer lab in the Secondary school and two in the Elementary.
- Three MacBook carts(22 MacBook each) and 5 iPad carts (22 iPads each) available for elementary students in grades.
-We are a BYOD school from Grade 2 to Grade 12 .
- Each classroom, K-12, is equipped with an AppleTV, projector and screen.
Finalsite Portal: A course management system where teachers can share class events and updates, resources, course materials and media as well as have class discussions and blogs.
OneDrive and Email: All AISA students, grades 3-12, have a school email address. Through their school email, students have access to Sky Drive where they can store, create, collaborate and share documents, presentations and spreadsheets online.
Destiny: Students have access to Destiny, the school library database where they can check out books and also access a range of educational research journals. This allows them to use reliable appropriate content for school research projects.
Synergetic: Parents and students use Synergetics to access students report cards.
Seesaw/Showbie: AISA Elementary teachers use these apps as classroom management systems. Students use them as electronic portfolios, and parents can check on their children's work.
As we move towards a technology-infused learning environment, we recognize that the safety and security of our students is essential. As such our students are required to sign an Acceptable Use Policy as well as a Mobile Device Policy as the start of the school year. Teachers work closely with students throughout the year on the importance of being Safe, Responsible, and Respectful in a digital world and what it means to be a digital citizen in the 21st century.
